Welcome
Learning how to knit is something that many people recall as part of their childhood, either being taught by a family member or family friend. More recently, it is taught in schools for charity endeavors and also taught in knitting clubs, usually sponsored by a local knitting store. Learning to knit, with the help of a skilled mentor, is the easy part. Learning how to read, understand, and begin knitting patterns is often a more difficult challenge for beginners.   Knitologie respects and envies its predecessors in the literary world, but it endeavors to provide an easy to understand platform for the beginner who wants to create personal and timeless knitwear, all the while, maximizing their limited skills.

We have several examples for you. Click here.

» K: Knit
» P: Purl
» SSK2: Slide two stitches from left needle to right. Act like you are going to knit the stitches together but enter from the left side, not the right. This is a pretty way of decreasing by one stitch.

40   K I-cord with TC   4

I-cord length is a matter of preference. Approximately 4 inches works well but it is a matter of choice. I like it long and floppy as opposed to short and tight.

Bind off 4 stitches and secure loose threads on the inside. Sew up back of hat.
